Panarub case update April 30, 2001, Message from SISBIKUM

As of April 30th, Indonesian union activist Ngadinah remains in prison. Please see below an update on her situation, provided by SISBIKUM.

Also attached is a response from adidas to our protest letters. See also the response that Tim Connor (NikeWatch Campaign, Australia) sent to adidas. Tim highlights several issues that adidas and PT Panarub should clarify. Please send letters of inquiry/protest to adidas and PT Panarub at the addresses listed below.

Message from SISBIKUM (April 30, 2001)

Dear All,

Thrusday, April 26, 2001, all staffs of SISBIKUM, GSBI, and ABGTeks went

to Tangerang Prison to see Ngadinah. We were talk for 30 minutes, at that conversation Ngadinah said that she was stress and she needs morale support.

At that prison, Ngadinah writes letter for her friend in PT Panarub on her condition in prison. She is sleep in the floor with a plaited mat. She suggests for her friends that Perbupas should struggle to uphold labor rights and freedom of association.

For her daily needs, we gave her some underwear, clothes, towel, toothpaste, toothbrush and some money. On next Saturday, April 28, 2001, 500 workers from Footwear Workers Association (SBPS) at PT ADIS (that produces for Nike) will come to prison for solidarity action for Ngadinah.
