Light House case settled

Dear Friends,
Sep 2002, The CCC has been informed by the Thai Labor Campaign (TLC) that the labor dispute at the Light House factory has been settled.

Light House is a Thai facility producing for Samsonite, the world's largest luggage MNC which is planning to move into the garment business. Because of their union activities Light House workers were fired. Demands to reinstate all the Light House workers has been the subject of an international campaign for the past several months.

Sept. 13th, the TLC reported that a settlement had been reached and that all those workers who were still interested in returning to their jobs would be reinstated. The settlement also includes a promise not to interfere with the union.

More details of this settlement will be distributed as they become available. In the meantime, many thanks to all of you who participated in this campaign and pressured Samsonite to respect workers rights in Thailand.
