june 25, 2007 Action at G-star in Amsterdam Indian libel case against CCC postponed. On June 25, 2007 a Bangalore court granted the Clean Clothes Campaign and the India Committee of the Netherlands an extention until August 31th in a courtcase filed against them. The case filed by the Indian garment supplier FFI charges the organisations with cyber crime, acts of racist and xenophobic nature and criminal defamation. The organisations meanwhile are preparing to bring the case to a higher court, which can issue a staying order. At the higher court the case will be contested both on grounds of content and procedure.

While the judicial procedings took place in India, the Clean Clothes Campaign and the India Committee of the Netherlands held an action in Amsterdam. At jeans brand G-Star's head office flyers were handed out to the staff and visitors. In the flyer, G-Star was called upon to publicly denounce the behavior of FFI and to call for normalisation of labour relations in the Indian factory.

To symbolize the gagging of the Indian organisations, the participants in the flyer-action taped their mouths shut.

G-Star is the biggest buyer at FFI, but so far has refused to openly take a position on her supplier's practices and to disclose their own actions in this case. The activists hope that with the action the G-Star employees will become more involved in the discussion about this issue.
