The
Saipan workers' lawsuit In January 1999 three separate lawsuits
were filed challenging the unlawful sweatshop conditions in the Saipan, CNMI garment
industry. A total of 26 U.S. based retailers and manufacturers on the island were
sued for violating workers' rights and using "indentured slavery". The
lawsuit ended with a victory for the garment workers. Please find here an overview
