Action at Gucci in Frankfurt

Greetings,
On Friday late afternoon, about fifteen of us carried out the first action at Gucci in Frankfurt.  The participants included mostly people from the IG-Metall, UNITEs sister union in Germany, and the local representative of the Clean Clothes Campaign.

Participants came with flashlights (At 4:00 pm it was already dark.), to shine a light on labor rights violations at PPR. The theme of the action was taken from a very well-known Bertolt Brecht quote (...see below, sounds much better in German.).

The response from the passerbys was surprisingly positive, esp. considering how stinking rich the neighborhood is.  Gucci was most annoyed with us.  They took photos of us, the manager bad-mouthed us a bit, and demanded that we not take photos of them.  We had fun.  The police stayed out of it.

The Frankfurter Rundschau, a nationally-read paper (roughly equivalent to the Washinton Post here), is supposed to put in a blurb about the event.  I will send copies out of whatever does get published.

"For some are in darkness
And others are in the light
And those in the light can be seen
Those in the darkness cannot be seen."
-Bertolt Brecht. Threepenny Opera
