Global Framework agreements
Global trade union federations have established an ongoing social dialogue
with a number of multinational enterprises in their sectors or industries.
These discussions have led to a wide range of formal and informal agreements
and understandings. This includes regular contacts through well established
communication channels as well as, in some cases, formal framework agreements.
A framework agreement is an agreement negotiated between a multinational
company and a global union federation concerning the international activities
of that company. The main purpose of a framework agreement is to establish
a formal ongoing relationship between the multinational company and
the global union federation which can solve problems and work in the
interests of both parties.
