Parliamentary Questions in the Netherlands
Thursday, 19 February 2009 00:00
As a result of the Cashing In report , members of two Dutch political parties (ChristenUnie and Socialistische Partij) have asked parliamentary questions of the State Secretary of Economic Matters and the Minister for Foreign Affairs. Among other things, the members asked if the government, in light of its policy on corporate responsibility, was prepared to tackle the reported workers’ rights abuses by the companies mentioned in the report, including Aldi and Lidl. The members also asked whether these companies are in any way subsidised by the Dutch government. The Dutch CCC will monitor the government’s response.
