DVD title: Garment Workers on US Saipan

USA, 2000, 45 minutes

Description: A DVD about the debt bondage of garment workers in [US] Saipan. Garments supposedly made in US are actually made in Saipan - where Chinese contract labourers are forced to pay huge recruitment fees ($3,000) to try to get themselves out of poverty. However they are trapped on the island for years to ensure that they earn enough to pay those fees back. The documentary shows concrete examples of long hours, appalling working conditions and parents having to leave their children back in China for years.
