Public Outreach coordinator (32 hours a week)

The Stichting Schone Kleren Campagne/Clean Clothes Campaign is dedicated to improving working conditions in the global garment industry. In the twenty years of our existence an extensive and effective global network of some 250 trade unions and NGO's has been created with campaign secretariats in 15 European countries. Our office in Amsterdam is shared by two highly motivated teams: the Clean Clothes Campaign International Secretariat (CCC) and the Dutch Secretariat, the Schone Kleren Campagne (SKC).

We are now looking for a creative, passionate professional to bring CCC's and SKC's public outreach to the next level. If you are an instigator and motivator with the ability to work on both strategic and hands-on level we would like to hear from you.

Tasks and responsibilities include:

  • you develop and implement strategic plans for public outreach and mobilization for both teams;
  • you develop innovative and cost effective actions and activities to improve both teams' public outreach programme and effectiveness;
  • with others, you take care of world-wide public outreach and public mobilisation, using effective web based, print based, multimedia and other public campaining tools;
  • you help develop the capacity of the European CCC network and CCC partners worldwide to undertake effective public outreach work;
  • you ensure public outreach expertise is shared through the network, for instance by organising  trainings and dissemination of public outreach good practice;
  • you write and edit materials for the public and for internal uses, including press statements, articles and reports;
  • you take up specific areas of responsibility (depending on your interests and abilities) within the CCC Partner Network team;
  • you take part in staff meetings, planning activities and general organisational related responsibilities, among which are fund-raising and reporting to donors

We ask:

Essential (please do not apply if you do not have these):

  • at least five years experience in a relevant position;
  • demonstrable experience of translating organisational and campaign strategies into practical operational delivery;
  • demonstrable experience of leading relevant campaigns and in particular leading the public outreach and mobilization aspect of campaigning;
  • demonstrable experience of media outreach;
  • strong writing, editing and communication skills;    
  • near-native speaker level English skills and native level Dutch skills;
  • demonstrable experience in working in a international environment

Desirable:

  • Asian and/or European language skills
  • knowledge of garment industry and labour rights issues
  • an activist or unionist background
  • willingness and ability to undertake overseas travel
  • experience with gender mainstreaming


We offer:

  • a salary of 2438 Euros gross per month for a 32-hour work week and 8% holiday pay;
